The fault phenomenon that steering is heavy on one side and light on the other side:
When the car is driving, the steering control force to the left and right is not equal.
Cause of the problem of heavy and light side steering:
① The steering control valve spool (or spool valve) deviates from the center position, or although it is in the center position, the gap size with the valve body groove shoulder is inconsistent;
② There is dirt blocking in the control valve, which causes different resistance to left and right rotation;
③ Air infiltration in a certain oil chamber of the power cylinder in the hydraulic system;
④ Oil leakage
The troubleshooting method for heavy and light weight on one side:
This kind of fault is mostly caused by dirty oil, and it should be checked after replacing the new oil according to the regulations.
If the oil quality is good or the fault is not eliminated after replacing the new oil, the hydraulic system should be degassed and checked for oil leakage. If there is leakage in the hydraulic system, the leaky parts should be replaced.
If the fault still cannot be eliminated, it may be caused by the poor centering of the control valve. The sliding valve type steering control valve can be eliminated outside the power steering pump by adjusting the position of the sliding valve. If the adjustment of the sliding valve position does not improve, it should be disassembled and measured for size. If there is a large deviation, the sliding valve should be replaced. For the rotary valve type steering control valve, the fault must be eliminated through disassembly and inspection.
