Cadillac has officially launched the 2025 CT5-V and CT5-V Blackwing, two high-performance sedans that have undergone comprehensive upgrades in exterior design, interior features, and technological configurations.
The powertrain systems of the two models have not undergone changes. The CT5-V continues to feature a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6 engine, delivering a maximum power of 360 horsepower and peak torque of 405 pound-feet, with power transmitted to the rear wheels through a 10-speed automatic transmission, and an all-wheel-drive version is also available. The CT5-V Blackwing, on the other hand, retains its 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engine, producing a maximum output of 668 horsepower and peak torque of 659 pound-feet. The transmission system can be paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 10-speed automatic gearbox. Cadillac has stated that over 50% of buyers opt for the manual transmission, catering to enthusiasts who appreciate the joy of driving.
In terms of both exterior and interior, the CT5-V Blackwing has undergone significant upgrades. On the exterior, the new model features a larger grille and vertical headlights, along with added welcome lighting and exit lighting functions. Additionally, the front mud flaps have been redesigned, and new splitters have been added to the carbon fiber kit, accompanied by a fresh design for the quad exhaust pipes. The vehicle is offered in three new colors for consumers to choose from: Drift Metal, Deep Space Metal, and Typhoon Metal.
In terms of the interior, both the CT5-V and CT5-V Blackwing share similar upgrades. The separated infotainment screen and digital instrument panel have been replaced with a massive 33-inch dual-screen setup, featuring Google Built-In software. This integration allows for the use of Google Maps for navigation and downloading third-party apps from the Google Play store. Another highlight of the interior upgrade is the improvement to the performance data recorder. The new infotainment system incorporates features such as lap time analyzer, speed indicator, real-time data screen, and more. Additionally, the Heads-Up Display (HUD) now includes lap time delta graphics. The entire interface of the infotainment system has been refreshed, providing drivers with the ability to access more information directly within the vehicle without the need for external analysis on a computer.
The CT5-V and CT5-V Blackwing, equipped with automatic transmissions, will come standard with the Super Cruise assisted driving system. This system enables partial autonomous driving on highways (not available for manual transmission models) and is offered free of charge for the first three years after purchase, with a subscription fee required after the initial three-year period. The new CT5-V and CT5-V Blackwing are expected to be available for sale in the summer of this year.
